See what a PDF says about where it came from.
PDF metadata viewerUpload a PDF to read its document properties, XMP metadata and structure. Metvoro tells you which apps made it, who it names, when it claims it was created and changed, and what’s hidden inside.

What it finds
What a PDF can tell you.
- Creator and producer
- The app the document was written in, and the software that turned it into a PDF, from Word and Google Docs to scanners and automated systems.
- Author and title
- Names and internal titles that often survive from the original document, including earlier working titles.
- Dates
- Creation and modification dates from both the info dictionary and the XMP packet, with time zones and inconsistencies flagged.
- Later changes
- Whether content was appended after the PDF was first saved, as happens with form filling, signing and editing.
- Signatures and forms
- Digital signature fields and fillable form fields, including the values typed into them.
- Hidden extras
- Attached files, embedded JavaScript and data after the end of the file that viewers don’t show.

Encrypted upload
Your file travels over HTTPS to Metvoro’s server. Nothing is sent to third parties.
- 2
Isolated analysis
It is read in a separate, locked-down process with strict time and memory limits.
- 3
Memory only
The file is never written to disk, and its contents are never logged.
- 4
Discarded
Once your report is sent back, the file is gone. The report lives only in your browser tab.
Questions
Questions, answered.
What metadata does a PDF contain?
Usually a title, author, subject and keywords, the app that created the document, the software that produced the PDF, and creation and modification dates. Many PDFs also carry an XMP metadata packet with the same or extra details.
What’s the difference between the PDF creator and producer?
The creator is the app the document was written in, such as Word. The producer is the software that wrote the PDF file itself, such as a PDF printer or converter. They’re often different.
What does ‘saved in stages' mean?
PDFs can be updated by appending changes to the end of the file instead of rewriting it. This happens when forms are filled in, signatures added or the file is edited. Earlier versions may still be inside the file.
Can Metvoro verify a digital signature?
Not yet. Metvoro detects signatures and tells you how many there are. To check that a signature is valid, open the PDF in a PDF reader or a qualified validation service.
